He Wenbo, executive chairman of the China Iron and Steel Association, said at the 11th China International Iron and Steel Conference that ended on the 28th, as of the end of February 2021, 229 iron and steel enterprises across the country have a crude steel production capacity of 620 million tons (159 in key regions are about 450 million tons). Crude steel production capacity) has completed or is implementing ultra-low emission retrofits. 110 iron and steel enterprises in key areas (350 million tons of crude steel production capacity, accounting for more than 60% of the total production capacity in key areas) have completed or are carrying out evaluation and monitoring.

According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, my country's crude steel output in 2020 will be 1.065 billion tons. In recent years, China's steel industry has resolutely eliminated outdated production capacity, and the capacity utilization rate has been maintained at a relatively high level. By vigorously promoting industrial structure adjustment, energy structure optimization, ultra-low emission transformation and low-carbon transformation, green development has achieved remarkable results. According to statistics from China Iron and Steel Association, from 2015 to 2020, the key statistical iron and steel enterprises have reduced their comprehensive energy consumption per ton of steel by 58%, and cut smoke and dust emissions per ton of steel by 48%.

On April 22 this year, the "Steel Industry Low-Carbon Work Promotion Committee" was established to condense the power of the entire industry to jointly promote the process of green and low-carbon steel development. He Wenbo introduced that the committee is rushing to formulate a road map for carbon neutralization in China's steel industry, and will quickly organize and implement it after the entire industry has reached a consensus.
