Brazil's July scrap imports increased by 477% year-on-year, while exports fell 41% year-on-year
According to statistics from the Brazilian Ministry of Economy, the country's total scrap imports in July were about 11,300 tons, a year-on-year increase of 477%.
In the first seven months of this year, Brazil's scrap steel imports amounted to approximately 201,100 tons, a year-on-year increase of 325.9%. Among them, mainly imported from the United States, about 3,300 tons; followed by Spain, with 2,300 tons.
In terms of exports, the total volume in July was around 45,100 tons, down 1.2% month-on-month and 41% year-on-year.
From January to July, exports were about 225,800 tons, a year-on-year decrease of nearly 52%. Among them, exports to Bangladesh accounted for the largest proportion, totaling nearly 20,000 tons; followed by India with 13,700 tons. (Source: Lange Steel Network)
